How long do veneers/crowns last?
We expect those to last for life, but like natural teeth those can have problems and it is hard to predict exactly how long would they last. With regular and proper care those should last for long time.
Do you guarantee the teeth?
Sorry. There are no guarantees but, after beautifying your smile, you will receive a night-guard (occlusal guard) for while you sleep. This protects your new smile from grinding side-to-side and front-to-back; the major cause of damage to dental restorations. With daily usage of your night-guard, restorations damaged under normal usage (no chewing ice!) will be repaired for five years.
What are they made of?
Composite materials and blends of composite materials and precisous/semi-precious metals offer durable veneers, bonding, bridges and crowns. The latest crown and veneer materials are known for both their natural looking beauty and durability.
Will they change color?
No. Though your natural teeth will change color, the coloring of composite materials used will remain constant, with proper care. There are no substitutes for regular dental examinations and daily oral hygiene.
Why do I need a Night Guard/Occlusal Guard?
Night-guards prevent damage from grinding side-to-side and front-to-back; the major cause of damage to dental restorations. Grinding is typically unconscious behavior most of us do, to some extent.
Will others be able to tell my teeth are veneers or crowns?
They will notice. It’s hard not to notice a more beautiful smile! Most will like what they see but not be able to recognize exactly what has changed. A dentist would know but others will not.
Will it hurt?
Some experience minimal sensitivity for a few days after their teeth have been prepared. Once your final treatments are complete, there may also be minimal sensitivity for a few days. This is common but not typical. It remains easy to smile and display your beautiful teeth.
Do I have to come to your office for cleanings or can I return to my previous dentist?
That is entirely up to you. We’d love to have you as a regular patient but understand other professional relationships. We’d be honored to have you as a regular patient but it isn’t necessary. We will teach you best practice care for cosmetic dentistry treatments. With simple care, you should be fine.
What will I have after the prep and before I get my final teeth?
You will have temporary veneers or crowns that look, feel and wear like the final ones. They will be molded to fit precisely. With the advanced materials, your temporary smile should be nearly as good as the finished product. Keep smiling!
Will my insurance cover any of the cost? If not why?
Insurance plans are focused on regular preventative care such as cleanings, exams and x-rays. They provide some coverage for restorative dentistry following accidents and for smaller items like lost fillings. Insurance plans do not seem to be inclusive of many cosmetic dentistry procedures. We will help you to maximize your insurance reimbursement.
